Explicación de Active Directory

Active Directory( AD) es un servicio de directorio para entornos empresariales de Windows que se implementó oficialmente en el año 2000 con el lanzamiento de Windows Server 2000 y que se ha mejorado progresivamente con el lanzamiento de cada sistema operativo de servidor posterior. AD se basa en los protocolos x.500 y LDAP, anteriores a este, y aún los utiliza de alguna forma. Se trata de una estructura distribuida y jerárquica que permite la gestión centralizada de los recursos de una organización, incluyendo usuarios, equipos, grupos, dispositivos de red y recursos compartidos de archivos, directivas de grupo, dispositivos y confianzas. AD proporciona authentication, accounting, and authorizationfunciones dentro de un entorno empresarial de Windows.
